Bubble Wrap Butterflies

When I was searching for something in my studio (I don't even remember now what I was looking for), I found a pad of Que Sera Sera Journaling Labels that I had picked up on clearance.  Those are some of my all-time favorite papers, so I decided to break them out for Jen's Sketch for You to Try.

The dotted designs on the paper reminded me of the Bubble Wrap Tutorial on the Gingersnap Creations blog this week.  Since I needed to make a larger card to incorporate the journaling tag into the design & I didn't have a stamping block that large (6 1/2" x 5"), I did a slight variation of the technique.  Rather than taping the bubble wrap to a stamping block, I cut a piece of bubble wrap slightly larger than my card base, laid it bubble-side up on a piece of scrap paper and inked it with Ranger Stormy Sky Distress ink.  Then, I pressed the piece of paper onto the inked bubble wrap.  I love the effect.

The Gingersnap Gals have a challenge this month to try out some of their awesome tutorials … they've got lots of great ones.

The butterflies from Hero Arts Antique Engravings were stamped twice (once on the card base, once on a scrap of yellow DP) and then cut out & attached with glue dots for dimension.  I finished with some Zva Creative bling & a sentiment from All Occasion Messages.  This card is also for the Hero Arts Mother's Day Challenge … it will go to one of my friends for Mother's Day.

Happy Sunday.
