I discovered today that I needed more birthday cards than I had made (how does that happen to a cardmaker??). Since I needed to get a few in the mail, I had to make some quick ones tonight.
I pulled out some birthday journaling cards and decided to combine them with the Simon Says Monday Challenge to use more than one stencil. It was the perfect opportunity to turn some of my multi-stenciled Gelliarts prints from the #abcprintingchallenge into cards.
I followed the same recipe for all three using the Whimsy Stamps Wonky Stitched Rectange die to cut the Gelliarts print (this first one was for the Y is for Yellow print, which used two different stencils). The painted background takes a simple card recipe to the next level.
I layered the die cut print onto a kraft card base and attached a journaling card from Echo Park Magical Birthday Boy collection using foam tape.
The second one uses a print from a prior year’s printing that has at least three stenciled layers for the print. I used the same recipe with a slightly larger golden krafty card base.
The final card uses the print from the X is for X-tra Layers prompt … there are at least 7 stencils layered to create this one … and I love the effect … with all of that paint, it’s almost leather-like.
I added a stamped sentiment on top of the journaling card to finish this one.
Now off to write personal messages and get these into the mail.
