Wax Seal Birthday

Another new-to-me creative experience at Alabama Art Camp this year was making seals using wax and clear glue sticks. the first sticks we used weren’t super clear (as you can see in the photo), so we swapped out for clearer ones (which you can see on my card).

I loved the cool frame seals that Bev had that worked with fun inchie images she had printed out. I used two of those on my card together with a Happy Birthday Wax Seal in orange. I had fun mixing together different wax colors for my seals.

I needed to restock my birthday card stash, so I thought this weeks Sketch from The Paper Players was perfect to feature a trio of seals.

I combined two clear glue stick framed puppies (that were accented with gold pen) with an Orange Happy Birthday Wax Seal. The any shape is a Doodlebug Birthday Cupcake Sticker.

I also played tic-tac-toe with the Retro Rubber Challenge. I went diagonal with a 1 3/8″ punch for my squares, a wrap of twine, and the wax seals as my “your choice”.

My retro rubber is my Wishing You the Best Day! sentiment stamp from Savvy Stamps. I can’t locate the exact release date, but I’m pretty sure this wood mounted stamps is at least 5 years old (since I haven’t purchased any new wood mounted stamps in years).

  1. Wax seals – that is something new. I like the bright, primary colour scheme you’ve chosen as it is very cheerful. Thanks for sharing with us at The Paper Players.

  2. This is very cool, Stef! I have to admit to enjoying watching a few wax seal creators making fancy seals on FB – I get very engrossed in the process of layering on multiple colors, lol. I like watching cookie decorating, too, lol – as soon as anyone starts playing with color, I have to watch! Such a great “your choice!” Enjoy the new adventure! Thanks so much for playing at Retro Rubber!
