Our newest prompt at Jingle Belles is Dashing through the SNOW. We are asking you to create projects that celebrate the white fluffy flakes of snow … it might be snowmen, snowflakes or just snowfall, but include some snow on your cards.
I was thrilled that my new Kristina Werner Snowflake Season Border Dies arrived just in time for me to make this card. I die cut them from a paper sample of brushed silver cardstock (the former marketing director at work used to save the expired sample books for me). There were bits of paper leftover that I used to die cut some of the individual smaller snowflakes included in the set.
Next I created a distressed GelliArts background using PaperArtsy Forget Me Not Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paint, and I attached all of the snowflakes to cover the print.
I die cut the Kristina Werner Calm and Bright sentiment from a slightly darker purple cardstock. I tried die cutting the background from vellum, but the busyness of the snowflakes showing through made the sentiment challenging to read. I then tried cutting it from silver glitter paper, which was a bit “too much” for the design. Finally, I layered the two together, and thought it was just right. I attached it using foam tape for a bit of dimension.
I attached the piece to a silver metallic card base and then finished with some AlteNew Mother of Pearl Gem Sparkles in the snowflake centers for a bit of blingy sparkle.
I love how it turned out.
