A Week Review of GelliPrint Fun

It's been another fun week of Gelliprinting with Tania on Instagram with #gelprintjanuary2024.

Day 15 was Transfer/Resist.  I'm a bit embarrassed at the number of different images I tried to get to work with this technique that all failed (over two hours of trying and putting things straight to the trash).  Finally I gave-up and went back to text from my vintage National Geographic magazines and had success.  These pages are great for backgrounds, and honestly I enjoyed the process of trying new things, even if they weren't successful.

Day 15's prompt was Round.  I chose several circle stencils and had fun layering them.  I really love the ghost print.

Day 16 is Landscape.  I've never tried gelliprinting a landscape, so I watched a YouTube Video and gave it a try by tearing printer paper and using shades of gold and brown that reminded me of Sedona, Arizona.  I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Day 17 was Ink Pad.  I always love printing with inks, so I used the wonky circle stencil on the right with three shades of Catherine Pooler teal inks and a light grey.

Next up was Day 18 Monochrome.  I chose greens for my palette layering them with a stencil.

Day 19 was Heart.  I've been seeing videos of artists painting hearts with two strokes of watercolor, so I decided to give a similar technique a try using acrylics and two strokes of my plastic palette tool.  It didn't work quite was well as I'd hoped, but I still love the effect, especially the silver ghost print.  One of the cool things about daily practice with a tool is the trying and the learning.

Day 20's theme was Woodgrain.  I used a woodgrain embossing folder pressing one side of it into my plate until I filled the surface.  I tried the first print using kraft cardstock.  For the second print, I picked-up a green print that was leftover from attempts earlier in the week and used it to pick-up the brown paint.  I really like them both.

I hope you're enjoying going on my creative journey with me … and I hope you're finding ways to inject art into your every day.
