I was in Washington DC for a few days for a work conference. Thankfully I arrived early enough on Sunday go walk around for several hours enjoying the scenery. I also happened to arrive on the peak day of the gorgeous National Cherry Blossom Festival.
So many people … but I was still able to enjoy the experience.
Before I made my way to the Tidal Basin, I managed to make a wrong turn, so I ate lunch at Bindaas in Georgetown … such good food, but I really loved the art.
It was a beautiful day for a long walk … this was one of my favorite views across the Basin.
I loved the pinker trees the best.
On my way back to the hotel, I walked by The White House. I was able to get closer the last time I visited the City, but now all the streets around it are barricaded.
In the evening I enjoyed wandering the neighborhood near my hotel and discovered these gorgeous Chinese Lanterns in Palmer Alley in what they call CityCenterDC … they were magical in the twilight.
I also discovered amazing Gelato at Dolcezza … it was so good I went back and had it again the second night … Dark Chocolate with Berries & Mascarpone … a perfect combination.
Excellent trip … but always glad to be home (and back to my studio).
