As soon as I saw the wonderful vintage picnic dishes for this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger with their pops of color and milky white edges, I thought of Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock.
The wavy edges on the plates also reminded me of ruffles, which worked perfectly with this week's 2 Sketches 4 You design. The flower reminded me of this wonderful Hero Arts Large Line Flower Image.
The plates also reminded me of something you'd see at a fancy birthday celebration, so I decided to go with a Happy Birthday theme (which also works for this month's Hero Arts challenge).
I punched the ruffled scallops with EK Success Double Embossed Dotted Edger punch. I punched upside down on the paper so the embossed dots would pop up for sanding. I used a manicure sanding block to bring out the peach color and added a bit of ink to the edges for more contrast.
The Large Line Flower was stamped once on the white side of the Core'dinations cardstock and again on the colored side to cut out the large single bloom. I sanded inside each of the blooms on the background to bring out the color. I also stamped the flower a third time on the white side of the cardstock to cut out the flower center (which was sanded, inked, and accented with a little black glaze pen).
I finished with SRM Stickers Birthday sentiments (I love how they let the floral design show through). They also work for this month's SRM challenge to Celebrate Life!
Happy Friday!
