Caardvarks / ShortCuts Sketch Challenge

It's July 5th, and that means as awesome new challenge is up at the Caardvarks Blog.  This time it's a sketch challenge sponsored by the fabulous folks at ShortCuts.  There will be 2 winners for this challenge, with each receiving a $15 gift certificate to ShorCuts.  Also, they are offering 15% off your order if you place it by July 31st using the keyword Caard15 at checkout (minimum $5 order required).

I used one of the clear blanks (which easily score with my Scor-It) for my card base.  I started with a pre-cut scalloped white card base that I sprayed with Orange Juice Memories Mists, as well as Sunflower and Oriental Poppy Glimmer Mists to get a deep, orange, gimmery background.  I sponged some dark brown ink around the edges for contrast.

The Wishing You Were Here from American Crafts was stamped twice on two different pieces of K&Company Que Sera Sera designer paper.  I hand-cut the top of the stamp and attached it with foam.  The flower from the June Unity Kit of the Month was also stamped twice, cut out, and crimpled a bit for dimension before layering and attaching.  The image was trimmed and layered on some brown DP from the same collection.

The finishing touch was knotted double ribbon.  I position the thin ribbon in the center of the thick ribbon and then knot them together (usually with the assistance of my dear husband's finger to hold it tight while I fiddle with the knot to get things layered the way I want).
