One of the things on my need-to-do list for the weekend was to make a birthday card for my dog-loving brother-in-law. I won this fun Cosmo Pups stamp set by Gel-a-tins in a blog candy giveaway. I don't have a dog, so I probably never would have thought to purchase these stamps on my own. However, they turned out to be perfect for this project.
I also say on Tanis' blog that Triple the Sketch is giving away a $30 gift certificate to Cut Card Stock.com, so I had to give that a try. There are quite a few elements to fit into a 5 1/2" card, but I think I pulled it off.
The DP is from K&Company's recycled mat stack by Carolyn Gavin. All of the images were stamped in Chestnut Roan Chalk ink. I highlighted the dogs with a touch of Sakura glaze pen and added small gold round paperclip & ticket corner punched corners to finish the design.
When the card was almost finished, I managed to drop the open ink pad right on to it, leaving a brown smudge. I tried figuring out different elements to cover it, but finally decided to just use it as a design elements. Dogs can be messy … so I decided to make my card messy by adding a few more paw prints and using Stampin' Up's bitty background stamp all over the card to mimic the muddy splatters that often fly when they shake off after rolling in a puddle. Now I can't even tell where the smudge was.

Oh Steph how very cute. I just adore all dog images, but these are just too sweet. You did a fantastic job with this sketch and your color scheme is perfect.
