It’s hard to believe that it’s been one year since I started my blog. My first year of blogging has been more rewarding than I ever imagined … it included 536 posts, 2385 comments, and over 57,000 hits. I love looking back at all of the posts chronicling this wonderful year of creativity … thanks so much to all of you for stopping by my little corner of blogland.

Some of my favorites are a foam sanding block that I picked up at the hardware store & sheets of 11" x 17" cardstock that I use on top of a same-size piece of craft foam for a perfect stamping surface (I got a damaged ream of paper very cheap from a local paper company).
Congratulations! I had a look at my latest cards, but came to the conclusion that I haven’t used any non-traditional supplies. I’m not really an experimenter. Greetings from Belgium, Annelies
Happy Blog Birthday to you!! I haven’t used this in a long time but I used to love using Koosh balls for backgrounds. Remember those? They are like a ball of skinny rubber bands with the ends cut loose. Anyway, I would pounce them onto an ink pad to pick up the color and then pounce them onto paper for a nice random background. I may have to dig those out and give them another try!
Happy Blog Birthday!! My favorite non-traditional supply is a stencil eraser. It was originally intended for erasing stencil paint but I have found its also great for cleaning up dried glue/adhesive and colored pencil or ink marks.

Here’s my non traditional supply tool in my craftroom. I’m sure it’s not an original but it’s all I can think of right now: I purchased a small clipboard and covered it with aluminum foil. I use it for embossing – the clip board clip holds the item that is to be embossed in place and the aluminum foil serves as a reflector to aid in shortening the heat time and also helps items not to warp. This tip tool came to me on . . . of course . . . SCS!

My non-traditional item used most often is my sanding block, which is a nail buffer from the dollar store. A great fine sander! Oh, and old baby washcloths and a spray bottle of water for cleaning my stamps…

I work in a cemetery and we sell silk flowers that you place on the gravsites so when an order comes in I have to count them to make sure we received the correct amount and if there are any petals that are lying on the bottom of the box, I take them home and use them on my cards!!!

I save every unusual tidbit in case it might be useful for a card someday, but something I use a lot for my cards is make-up sponges and applicators from the grocery store. I don’t know if this is non-traditional enough, but I’ve found they work well for lots of applications!

Some of my non-traditional supplies are herringbone patterned paper clips from an office supply store and some fine sandpaper from the hardware store (for distressing).

Non-traditional, hmmm. That covers a lot of ground. I guess one of my faves is paint chips. Love them, they’re handy and come in lots of colors. I also use the plastic fronts of pkgs that things come in. Aluminum foil. And sharpies color it just great.

Congrats on your blogoversary. I would love to win those cupcake stamps! I use my husband’s sand paper to expose the white core in the cardstock I use. I also like using office supplies such as binder clips and transparencies.

I like using inked-up plastic wrap…..”pounce” it on the cardstock to give it an interesting background.
Midnight what time zone??? It’s only 11:05 central time!!!
For my non-traditional supply, I’d have to say the ruler and rotary cutter that I purchased years ago to actually make quilts with. I have since put my sewing on hold but can’t seem to find a better way to cut my paper. I even asked for a 24×36 quilters cutting mat last year for my birthday – that is my main work surface. It hides all the scratches and marks from my hobby knife and cutters.

Now, for the non-traditional supplies. I don’t have any type of circle cutting system, so whenever I need one that’s bigger than my 1 3/8″ punch, I use a coaster, ribbon spool, my little bucket of RAK cards…anything within reach that I can trace a circle with.

To answer your fun question- my nubby dares me to say wine is my best non-traditional stamping tool. (Isn’t he funny…;) So, my answer is my computer…I surf & get so much inspiration on line. Next to it, I’d say is an erasure because I change my mind, a lot!
