Caardvarks has posted a Micro Challenge that is all about trees. Cards need to be linked to the gallery by midnight on April 13th, so show us your best tree creations.
I had used my Martha Stewart branch punch to make fun holiday wreaths, so I thought I would see if I could figure out how to make a Christmas Tree. It was much easier than I had envisioned.
I punched branches from all different shades of green cardstock scraps until I had fairly substantial pile of branches (I didn’t count, but I’m guessing around 50-75 on this tree). I put a strip of double-stick tape across the bottom the width of my tree base. I randomly attached branches to the tape facing them both directions. Then over the top edge of those branches, I put another slightly narrower band of tape. I repeated the process until I got to the top of the tree.
I squeezed out some Lime Green Stickles on my finger and tamped it on the branches to add a little sparkle The star is punched from gold metallic paper, and these holiday lights are something I have had in my stash forever (I attached the ends with glue dots tucked under branches. The brown cardstock trunk and a simple Hero Arts sentiment finish the design. The card-base is kraft and the background paper is 7Gypsies Sushi Journey (it reminded me of vintage wallpaper).
Can’t wait to see your tree creations.
