Lynda at Stamp Act posted a challenge to create a card using a template. Since I had so much fun with my onesies, I thought I would see what other shapes were out there. She provided a link to House of Stirfry, which has lots of template ideas. In honor of Spring Training starting this week (my husband is a much happier man when baseball season begins) & Allison’s Suggestive Sunday challenge to do a card for a child, I picked the Baseball Cap card template for my nephew Kolby.
I started with a 5 1/2" square card of blue speckled cardstock and traced the template for the entire hat. I traced the bill part of the template into a red cardstock scrap that had a lined texture and punched a small circle for the button on the top of the hat.
I finished with a "K" foam sticker for Kolby.
I also fell in love with Caardvarks’ Love Fest Winner Jen’s Cupcake Card. I thought it would be perfect for Sharon’s Bake-Off Challenge to create a card featuring your finest baked goodies (even though I just realized there is no stamping on this card).
In my world, a great cupcake is a chocolate cupcake. I crimped some light brown bazzill bling cardstock for the base and rounded the bottom corners. The frosting is Chatterbox DP embossed with the Cuttlebug swirls folder. Since thin DP tears easily when embossed, I attached it to a stronger piece of cardstock before I used my sanding block to bring out the details. I added a beaded swirl, ribbon and a birthday sticker to finish the cupcake.
After the template was done, I attached it to a standard-sized white card base and hand cut around the template. The fold is along the top, with a little of the cupcake peeking over the top.
Wow! I would be too afraid to “go there” (of course, creative time is at a premium so I stay with “safe”!). Terrific!
