Friday is the beginning of the Baby Baby LoveFest at Caardvarks. Take some time to make your best baby-themed creations and link them up by Thursday at midnight for a chance to win a prize from Queen Kat Designs. For my design team creations, I used the same set of QKD stamps that I used for my Valentines.
Since I don’t often need baby cards, I wanted to try some fun shaped designs. First I made a baby onesie for a little boy.
I free-hand cut this onesie starting with with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card folded in half. I made an angle cut along the bottom corner for the leg openings. Next I made an angle cut along the top for the sleeve top, leaving the card attached along the top fold. The final cut was the angle up the side and over for the sleeve bottom.
I traced my template onto a card made of Basic Grey Oh Baby! Boy cardstock. I stamped the QKD asterisks in tangerine on the DP. I used a one-inch circle punch for the neck opening.
The bib is made from a Giga Scallop Circle punch that I attached, trimmed along the top, and punched a neck opening. The final embellishments are a Prussian Blue QKD stamped heart, orange punched heart and three eyelets for the onesie "snaps" at the bottom.
Next it was a dress for a baby girl using Bo Bunny Heart Attack DP. I remembered a dress card I had seen on Carol Duval years ago. The cuts for this template are similar to the onesie, except I started with a 5 1/2" square card folded in half.
I made an angle cut up from the bottom corners to the bottom of the sleeve. Another angle cut at the top forms the top of the sleeve. I gave this cut a slightly softer angle for a more rounded look to the sleeve. I free-hand cut the collar by folding it in half and using the circle punch for the neck. The wider card allowed for slightly longer sleeves than the onesie. I trimmed along the bottom using scalloped scissors.
The QKD swirled line was stamped in charcoal along the dress bottom and the sleeves. I added a black pocket adorned with the QKD heart and a Basic Grey Cherish metal word to finish the dress.
Finally, I wanted to do a card using a diaper pin. I stamped the QKD heart five times on a light pink plaid DP. The sixth heart was embossed with a sparkly DP and cut out to form the charm, which was attached to the pin using a jewelry jump ring.
I finished the card with some white cardstock thickers. Dimensions are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
I can’t wait to see the great Baby Baby LoveFest creations you make.
