It feels so good to be creating in my studio … my warm studio. It is absolutely blustery outside with still colder temperatures on their way.
This sketch is from Sarah & the Stampstars 52 cards a year: challenge number 3. The challenge is to use the sketch in shades of gray, black and white featuring one other color with three repeating embellishments at the bottom right.
When I chose this friends stamp by Li’l Davis Designs (which I see is joining the Fiskars family, so maybe they’ll start showing up at JoAnn’s), I didn’t pay attention to the fact that I actually needed to position a sentiment on the bottom of the card. Oh well, I like a challenge, so I went rummaging through my stamp drawers & finally settled on this fun sentiment from Stampin’ Up that worked in the layout. They are both stamped in ColorBox Charcoal on white cardstock, but the white seemed too stark with the rest of the design, so I also sponged on some charcoal ink to "dirty" it up a bit.
The LImited Supply Challenge at SCS this week was to make a card that featured a background stamp and no designer paper or cuttlebug embossing. Yesterday’s Ways to Use it Challenge was to use powder, so I wanted to combine both challenges.
I inked my Geometric Flowers II backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms, with Versamark (so the embossing powder would stick) and then with ColorBox Charcoal Ink (for the color) and stamped it on Bashful Blue cardstock. I embossed with Ranger Bridal Embossing Tinsel, which is sort of like metallic fairy dust.
I finished the sketch by layering Primas and some paper punched flowers adding these very fun Silver Bells Dew Drops to the centers. I truly believe in this sentiment, and I am blessed by my family of friends.
