I’ve been wanting to use the Card Positioning Systems (CPS) / Cardmaker Magazine Design contest sketch. I liked the sketch, but the design categories were stumping me – Patriotic, travel postcards, summer parties, or Christmas in July.
Then I saw the Post Haste challenge on Daring Cardmakers, and I realized that I could incorporate postage stamps into a travel postcards design.
My uber-cool sister found me a fun package of vintage postage stamps. I found four that were relatively square to add to the design. The card base is Aquamarine Stardream Metallic cardstock from cutcardstock.com. The PSX sailboat was stamped in ColorBox Chalk Blue Iris on Basic Grey Periphery DP. Of course AFTER I attached the image to the card, I realized that it might have looked cool adding some bleach to the sails, but I didn’t want to mess it up since I only had this piece of the DP left.
The sentiment is also by PSX and is stamped in Blue Iris on the metallic cardstock (I heat set the ink to keep it from smearing). I matted it on a piece of green cardstock that approximated the color of my top postage stamp. I added several fun blue fibers tied along the spine of the card.
My goof-ball husband asked me if I could make him a birthday card for him to give to someone he knows that is having a birthday this weekend … I suppose there are worse things than making your own birthday card :^)
Don’t forget to leave me a comment for an I-squared Inspiration giveaway. Enjoy the weekend.
Terrific card! I love the postage stamps and the fibers!
Awesome card, I like how you used the stamps!
