I have been making fewer square cards lately because of the significant increase in the postage to mail them. However, when I saw Beate’s Weekend Sketch #19, I knew it would be perfect for a birthday card I needed to make for one of my favorite little guys.
Since I don’t have children, my supply of children’s images for stamping is somewhat limited. However, on my last stamping shopping trip, my girlfriend & favorite stamp shopping buddy convinced me that I needed to add this fun dump truck by Double D Rubber Stamps to my collection, and I’m glad I did. It was perfect for this little boy birthday card.
I am still having fun with Basic Grey’s Color Me Silly papers. The smallest panel is cut from a tag that was a smaller version of the frog background. Then I stamped "Hip Hip Hooray" by Rubber Soul in the middle.
I didn’t have the right size punches to insert a black layer between my dump truck and the scalloped circle, so I just rolled the edge of the punched image in my black ink pad to add some definition. Time to get these fun birthday wishes in the mail & on their way to the son of one of my favorite long-distance stamping friends.
Ingredients: Papers: Basic Grey Color Me Silly, Black Cardstock; Ink: ColorBox Chalk Charcoal; Stamps: Magenta Happy Birthday, Double D Rubber Stamps (C1712) Dump truck; Rubber Soul Hip Hip Hooray (A Day at the Zoo); Accessories: Scalloped circle punch, Whale of a Punch Circle punch, pop dot.
Stef, What a fun card! I like how it turned out! Thanks so much for playing with the sketch!
Have a great weekend. Hugs and smiles
