Today’s inspiration piece is a wool hooked rug by LL Bean in a pattern called farmhouse tile. Since I’ve started creating cards on a regular basis, I’ve found that I look at the world differently. I’m drawn to color combinations, design elements, advertising … whatever is visually interesting … for inspiration.
I started with the color pattern in the rug and chose my four primary squares. The squares are 2" and then the corners are trimmed to 3/4". I stamped whimsical flowers by Scrappy Cat in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I stamped a smaller Scrappy Cat flower in Denim Adirondack Dye ink on ivory cardstock. I punched out the flowers with a 3/4" square punch and sponged them lightly with ColorBox Chalk French Blue Ink. I colored parts of each flower using a Sakura Sparkle Gel pen.
I adhered all of the ‘rug’ pieces on a Bazzill Bling 5 1/2" square card base. The AlexStamping sentiment was stamped in Denim ink, embossed with clear EP, matted on a Bazzill Blue square and mounted with pop dots for dimension.
Keep your eyes open … you never know where inspiration might appear.
