Kansas City Sisters’ Weekend

I was thrilled to get to spend time in Kansas City with my Sister.

We started with a Matt Nathanson concert at the new Morton Amphatheter … and it was so, so hot (he described it as singing in soup, which was pretty accurate. We had our sunscreen and hats, that’s for sure.

After the concert, she got to meet him and talk with him for a bit … he was so gracious.

We ate lots of great meals, but this breakfast fried rice was one of the most unique and delicious … I need to figure out how to recreate it (the carrot cake pancake was yummy too).

We tried our hands at embroidery at the ADHDIY Craft Cafe. It was a lot of fun, and I’d love to do more.

We also enjoyed a seafood lunch at Jarocho where we tried baby octopus, mussles and oysters.

The murals were how we knew we had arrived at the right location for lunch.

We also enjoyed a Gelato Sampler at The Flying Cow Gelato Shop … the key lime on top stole the show.

And when you’re in Kansas City, you must try some BBQ. We got our order to go from the very, very busy Joe’s Kansas City BBQ (we tried the original Gas Station location).

And there was so much thrift store shopping … we both found new coats.

And of course, there were a few board games.

Overall a magnificent trip, even if it always feels much too short.
