I just returned from another amazing session of Alabama Art Camp with my crafty friend Bev. I rate her art camp five stars … she had so many amazing artsy projects for us to complete this year.
One of the things I love so much is that they are mostly projects that I don’t think I would have ever chosen to do on my own … and I loved each and every one so much. It’s so great to dive in and just create.
These cards are made with Paper Dolls made with the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Photobooth Ephemera inspired by the amazing Christina Minasian.
We started by choosing our faces from the Photobooth images and cut them out. Next we used designer papers to create their dresses.
After that we cut out leg images & butterflies that Bev printed from the internet. The finishing touch was some coordinating butterfly washi tape and a snarky sentiment typed out on Bev’s We R Memory Keepers Typewriter (which makes me wonder why I don’t have one of those lovely machines). I thought this sentiment really worked with the look on her face. I’m also linking her up at the Simon Says: Add Some Text Monday Challenge.
We followed the same process to make several more dolls.
For this one, her head was tinier, so I went with a wider dress & skinnier legs. Again, more washi tape, a typed sentiment and a few acrylic pen accents. For both cards, I also blended some distress ink around the edges (it’s a bit more visible in this one).
I waited until I got home to finish my third card (despite getting home at 2am this morning due to multiple delayed flights home … but I do credit Delta with doing everything they could to get us there, including pulling pilots from another flight who apparently had enough remaining work time left on their schedule).
This was my first one and I think possible my favorite with the animal print dress. I paired her with one of my gelliarts prints and more washi tape. Since I didn’t have the typewriter, I paired her with one of the printed Pink! lyric sentiments in my stash (Pink! seemed right for this brave pink girl).
Again … highly recommend giving this one a try. So much fun (especially crafting in person with a friend). I leave you with a photo of one of my other crafty friends who insisted on joining the creative fun.
