#marchprintingchallenge

My job has been seriously interfering with my creative time lately, so I didn’t have the chance to start the GelliArts #marchprintingchallenge until this morning. I took an hour or so and got lost in printing, and it was magical. Seriously, when I get into that kind of creative flow, it lifts my spirit so much.

For my first print, I used three different stencils to create my layers with a random grab of four paint colors from the blue/yellow drawer of paint.

The print on the right is made by applying paint to the plate, laying down the stencil, and picking up the paint through the openings. The print on the left is the second print made by picking up the remaining paint on the plate.

For Day 2, I went over to my GelliArts pile of materials I have tucked away in a corner by my studio table and grabbed two things from the top – cardboard and a piece of unused vegetable bag netting.

The left one was a card board print in yellow. Next I added light blue to the plate and layered on the produce bag and picked up whatever paint I could push the paper through to the plate. On the right is a yellow produce back print with some leftover cardboard ghost print. I love them both.

Day three was your favorite stencil … one of my absolute favorites is Elizabeth St. Hilaire’s Starry Spirals Mask from Joggles (which I guess technically isn’t a stencil, but I use them pretty much interchangeably in my world). The organic shape of it allows you to be able to move it around and reposition it to create so many layering possibilities.

As you can see, I just couldn’t stop printing. I love these.

When I finished, I also had multiple roll-off sheets where I clean the paint off the brayer before moving to the next color.

I recently got a postage stamp punch, so I used it with several of the roll-off prints and a glue stick to make this birthday card. It reminded me of patches of worn denim when I finished.

I added several Thickers Stickers and a flat sticker for the sentiments. Love it.

I’m linking it up at the Inpsire.Create.Challenge It’s All About the Man.
