Wabi Sabi GelliArts printing

The Wabi Sabi-themed #gelprintjanuary challenge on Instagram continues through January.

This prompt was Mood. I got new Dina Wakley Media acrylic paints in the mail, so I combined Sage, Watery and Minty for this print that reflected my mood … sort of bright, but sort of grey with the chilling snowy weather we’ve had lately.

The next prompt was Paint. I used a very rough paint brush that was in my stash to paint on the plate. I used shades of rust and brown to try to create a woodgrain like effect.

The next prompt was Play. I pulled together my favorite Playful colors with @paperpaintingscollage Organic Harmony stencil from Joggles, and I played … so much fun with paint and my @gelliarts plate. I love the combination of pink, red & orange.

For this one, I put paint on the plate, added the stencil, and picked-up the paint through the openings. I moved the stencil around and did it multiple times with each of the colors. These will likely be turned into Valentines.

And on Sunday, I took a fun class with Thirdspace Create at the Raygun Store. We made adult merit badges. I did mine by sewing on beads (which clearly I could not do very straight, but I sort of loved the wonky effect).

It’s been a fun week of creating so far.
