I loved getting to enjoy the two new Exhibits at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art this week. Thursday nights from 5-8pm have free admission (thanks Collins Aerospace).
The first exhibit is All that Jazz: Photographs by Carl Van Vechten and George T. Henry.
I had forgotten that Jazz Poet Langston Hughes was from Joplin, Missouri near where I grew up.
I loved the joy in this photograph of Louis Armstrong performing at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
The second new exhibit features Mata Ortiz pottery, which was new to me. There is a video of a family of artists whose work is included in the exhibit, so you get to see how they paint those amazing details.
I loved these fun little creatures.
The animal patterns were wonderful.
