Indianapolis Vacation

Last week, my husband and I spent a few days in Indianapolis for a getaway.

We stayed at the Ironworks Hotel, which was surrounded by a number of restaurants, which made eating breakfast and supper and easy experience.  They even had a fun photo booth in the lobby (although it was an "old school" one, so it was challenging to figure out how to get both of our faces in the screen LOL).

We started with a visit to the new location for the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library.  In true Severin vacation luck, when we arrived, it was closed for the morning for an event, so we spent our time walking along the Canal Walk on a lovely morning.

We found an awesome little playground with a squishy rubber base where we watched all of the kiddos having a marvelous time and where I got to have a little swing time myself.

We loved the new Vonnegut Museum and Library Space.

Next we walked over to Gallery Forty-Two, which we learned has now converted from a Gallery to an Event space, however the Executive Director let us in to look around.  We learned it was the oldest building in the downtown area, and it had been lovingly restored.  It was filled with amazing art.

This fabric landscape was one of my favorites.

I also loved the many pieces of three dimensional art.

The next day, we enjoyed wandering through the Indianapolis Art Museum … it is such a wonderful space inside and out.

They had moved the iconic Robert Indiana LOVE inside due to it starting to suffer some degradation from the elements.

One of the docent's mentioned that this Georgia O'Keefe work was the most expensive piece in the museum.  It was gorgeous.

We also got to experience the immersive Connection: Land, Water, Sky featuring music and art from Indigenous Australians.

The oil painting Garden at La Hune, Saint-Tropez, 1909 by Jeanne Semersheim-Desgranges was another favorite.

We had a wonderful little getaway.
