Alabama Crafty Floaty Getaway

It's always so fun when long-distance crafty friends become short-distance crafty friends.  I just returned from a getaway to Alabama to meet my crafty pen pal Beverly in person.

I loved being the recipient of her amazing southern hospitality.  We started our trip reading in the shade of her Secret Garden by the pool.

The next day I woke-up early and soaked in the shady pool … pretty easy to see the only parts of this fair-skinned girl that ever get any sun.

I stayed in the pool so long every day that I got the wrinkly fingers I remembered from childhood.

Next we pulled on our "serial killer gloves" and got super-messy with all sorts of liquid watercolor powders.  We had fun playing with Color Burst (now known as ColorSparx), Pink & Main Water Gems Sparkling Watercolors & Lindy's Magical Powders.

Here I am picking-up bits of color from the saturated paper towels.  They're all too pretty to let any go to waste … and wasn't it cute how I dressed to match her fabulous kitchen.

We each ended-up with a gorgeous collection of backgrounds that we'll be using in future cards.  I had fun with Beverly's Honey Bee Stamps Polka Dot Layering Stencils on mine.

We ventured out to Vernon, Alabama so I could get a Sonic Limeade and we could explore the Falkner Antique Mall.  I found a few treasured gifts as well as a fun Hires Root Beer Bottle (I've been looking for one forever since our Condominium is in a former Hires Bottling Plant).  This guy made me smile.

Even though it was getting later in the season (and it was Alabama hot outside for sure), I enjoyed her lovely flowers.

It reminded me of wonderful memories of spending time with my Grandma in her gardens.  The morning glories by the pool were particularly lovely.

We also had some fun doing some Alcohol Ink coloring.  She had the entire Spectrum Noir TriBlend Marker Set, so I gave them a try for my fun Woodware Gnome Christmas Cup.

I also had the privilege of enjoying Beverly's amazing cooking including my first Lemon Ice Box Pie and this delicious breakfast casserole.

We also enjoyed scrumptious fruit salad and her amazing sweet breads for breakfast on the patio by the pool.

I was sad this morning that I didn't get to start my day with a soak in the pool & crafty company, but this will have to hold me over until my next adventure.

  1. I sure did miss my floating friend this morning at the pool…and Little Mama the friendly but pesty cat actually looked for you. Hope you always look back on your trip to Alabama with the fondest of memories. 🙂
