Daisy Yellow Index-Card-a-Day Week 5

Another week of #dyicad2023 fun.

For day 29 Evergreen, I stamped a NBUS stamp from Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember in Evergreen Ink (ended-up looking more black in the photo, but trust me it's green).

Day 30 Playground I took a shot at drawing (so not my strong suit).  I doodled with a marker remembering a specific memory of breaking the 1st Grade playground rules and pushing my friend Shawna on the swings. She brought her feet back with her heel kicking me hard in the nose. We made up a story that I had hit my nose on her head when we were running around, so we wouldn’t get in trouble for breaking the swinging rules (because despite the horrific pain, we didn't want to be banned from swinging on the Playground). My Mom had to take me to the ER with what we thought was a broken nose. No break but a serious bruise and swollen for days. That’s the story of me on the Playground (and my first memory of deliberately telling a lie).

Day 31 Charcoal didn't speak to me (mostly because I couldn't find any charcoal to draw with and didn't feel like literally drawing charcoal) … and honestly I wasn’t feeling like making anything at all.  So I went off-prompt and just tore up all of the scraps of paint paper on my studio table and cobbled it together with a bow from a scrap of ribbon on top. To me, pushing through to make something is what’s important with the #icad experience.

Day 32 is Cottage.  I found the cottage definition in my children's encyclopedia and was thrilled that it also included an illustration that was colored in what I've seen called Mid Century Modern (where the colors aren't exactly aligned with the drawing).  I've been a bit obsessed with tattoos in this style lately.  I love where the colors overlap.

I chose the colors from the image and used inks in those hues to gelliprint my index card before attaching the illustration/definition.

Day 33 Perspective … the lines in a perspective drawing reminded me of the lines in the Blueprint line of stamps, so I stamped the delicious tropical rum drink from Stampers Anonymous Blueprint Cocktails adding bits of color (clearly using the wrong ink/marker combination because the stamped ink bled a bit on the index card).  That didn't stop me from turning it into a holiday card here.

Day 34 Summer was my favorite of the week.  I gelliprinted a blue sky (I love the sort-off bubbly effect of the ink) and then use leftover scraps of designer paper on my studio table to build my paper pieced sun.  I finished with a P!NK song lyric sticker and another summer sticker.

And lastly, Day 33 Astronomy.  Again, I was feeling a bit low on creative energy, so I stick with another children's encyclopedia definition and another P!NK lyric sticker sentiment that seemed to fit the theme.

I hope you're enjoying my #icad journey as much as I am.
