We Can’t Thank You Enough Washi

I felt like creating with Washi Tape today, and then I saw the Sketch at the Stick It Down Challenge and I was off to the races.

I decided to use combinations of black & white washi tape together with scraps of colored cardstock.

I trim my cardstock scrap about one-half inch wider on each side than I want my finished card, so I can overlap the washi strips and trim it down for a nice clean edge.  I need some thank you cards for gifts that arrived across the miles, so I wanted to keep the cards flat and mailable.  I decided to use die cut sentiments from Essentials by Ellen Nice of You.

Several of these washi tapes are by ZYNSHE that I picked-up after taking a mixed media washi tape class from Donna Downey earlier this year.

I love how the colors of the cardstock show slightly through the white of the tape, making each card look a bit different.

This was my first one before I figured out where I needed to be before I trimmed down the cardstock (I started with a slightly larger piece, so when I trimmed down there was less cardstock showing).  Thankfully it worked with this tiny sentiment.

If you've got lots of washi tucked away, hopefully I've inspired you to break it out and play.
