Our third day in NYC started with a walk across town where we stopped and enjoyed perfectly made breakfast sandwiches.
Next we headed to the 11am opening of Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure, but it turned out the 11am tickets were already sold out, so we bought tickets for 11:20am and headed down the street to Printed Matter, a non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination, understanding and appreciation of artists’ books and related publications.
It was probably a good thing we were limited to 20 minutes, because I'm pretty sure we could have gotten lost there for hours. We did have fun buying tiny books from a book vending machine.
Next-up, we enjoyed the experience of Basquiat. I felt so grateful to see his legacy curated by his sisters.
We were both inspired by his art.
We took different streets for our walk back, and found some fun little art along the way.
We also stopped at Kramer Pigments, where Lauren found a travel paint brush and we marveled at the rainbow.
So many gorgeous colors.
And one final stop before we boarded the train to our Art Camp in New Jersey … the requisite delicious Black & White cookie.
It was so great to get to explore NYC once again with Lauren … I would have to say this was one of our best trips yet.
