Sisters’ Week 2022

I was so excited to get to have another Sisters' Week in 2022.

We started the trip with some competitive rounds of croquet with family (I believe I managed to finish last every single round … I managed to hit the ball over the wicket instead of through it at least three times).

The next morning, we had more family time before we hit the road.  I got to hear brother-in-law James lead the service at the Sarcoxie Nazarene Church, and then we went for Pizza at Mazzio's, a childhood staple.

Next we went to visit my Gran (my Mom's Mom) and took a group selfie … I hope I have those genes as I age.

We couldn't quite make a beach getaway work this year, so instead we chose a shorter trip to the Papa Fitz Treehouse AirBNB in Bentonville Arkansas … after we took our Sisters with Sunglasses picture of course.

Since we couldn't check-in until 4pm, we stopped at the Crystal Bridges Museum.  We started with a self-guided audio tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian House where I learned that Frank invested & coined the word Car Port (because he hated that people just used garages to store junk).

The weather was perfect, so we did the Art Walk Trail next.

My Sister did the perfect photo edit of the art piece we named Vecna (yes, we're both Stranger Things junkies).

The art inside the Museum was amazing too.  Hard to pick a favorite, but I was thrilled to see a Georgia O'Keeffe New York Cityscape.

The We the People Exhibit was amazing too.

Next up was lunch at Table Mesa – we started with the Tlaquepaque (Best of Everything) with Chile Con Queso, Civeche de atun, Guacamole & Salsa.

We checked into the Tree House and relaxed in the pool for a while.  Then we headed to Crepes Paulette for a perfect light supper … they were so delicious.

We ended the day with a perfect fire pit fire (you could tell my sister has closely watched years of Survivor to hone her perfect fire building skills) and of course, S'Mores.

S'mores

The next morning, we headed to The Buttered Biscuit.  I had to get a biscuit of course with orange honey butter … then I was able to put the sausage gravy on my eggs and potatoes.  Quite tasty.  Darcy loved her omelets with Mushrooms, Artichoke Hearts and Goat Cheese.

Next up, there was more pool time, and then the Board Games commenced – we split the wins of two games of Scrabble.

We shared a big pile of seafood for supper at Flying Fish … we slurped down a dozen oysters and then dug into a shrimp boil.

Our after-supper workout involved me learning how to play Corn Hole.

The next morning we visited The Momentary.  I loved this Turtle Shell made of Rubbermaid Step Stools.  I also bought several gifts from the gift store & enjoyed buying art from an Art-o-Mat.

Next we hiked the trails at the Compton Gardens & Arboretum.  It was the perfect workout before heading back to float in the pool.

Next up, multiple games of Ticket to Ride – London.

For supper we went to Sushi House … the restaurant was hopping, and they were cranking out plates of sushi like a well oiled machine.  We enjoyed this no-rice roll wrapped in cucumber.

Our stay at the Tree House came to an end, and we went back home for another family game night.  Articulate! is a new family favorite … and often reduces our entire group to rolling belly laughter.

While the week went by so quickly, I am always grateful for travel and the opportunity to spend time with those I love.

I call Sisters' Week 2022 a win.
