I really enjoyed having a good part of the morning to work on my Ellen Hutson Day 5 Tag of Christmas today – Winter Wonderland … so much more relaxing than quick creations after a long day at work.
For the theme Winter Wonderland, I knew I wanted some snowflakes, so I decided to use this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! for my layout and replace the flowers with snowflakes.
I decided to incorporate this week's Color Throwdown into my Tag as well.
To make the sketch work with the Tim Holtz Mixed Media #2 Die I wanted to use, I had to rotate and flip it, but I think you can still clearly see the layout (although I'm not sure with all of my snowflakes and bling that I qualify for Clean & Simple, but I'm sticking with it). This is a large tag that is just under 4 inches wide and about 8 inches tall (perfect for a business size envelope since I can write a message on the back).
I attached the stripes of paper to the kraft tag base, and then die cut the large flourished lined up with the edge and bottom of the ta. After cutting I attached a second ivory cardstock tag to the back to provide stability for the flourishes.
Next I punched three large snowflakes from a shimmer ivory paper topped with three smaller snowflakes and then some Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Bling. Next I scattered three more of the Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Bling around the tag.
I finished with some of my favorite nubby yard for the top of the tag and a favorite vintage wood-mounted sentiment from Northwoods Rubber Stamps, which dates back to at least 2007 when I used it on this bookmark. I took some snowy inspiration from the Retro Rubber Merry Christmas Challenge, so I'm linking-up there too (it's so weird that we've really only had one snow this year and that was about 7 inches in October).
Now I'm off to address more of my holiday cards to get them in the mail … help those postal carriers and mail things early.

What a fabulous tag! I love the flourish overlaid with shimmery snowflakes – very pretty. Thanks for joining in with us at Retro Rubber Challenge.

Very pretty tag! Love the layers of snowflakes. It is snowing here as I write my comment, but we’ve not had a lot of snow yet this year either. Thanks for joining us in some Christmas fun at Retro Rubber Blog Challenge!
