12 Tags of Christmas – Alcohol Inks

The First Challenge in the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist is to create using Alcohol Inks.

Creating an alcohol ink background was the first technique that made me fall in love with papercrafting.  I still remember sitting at a tiny stamping store in Neosho, Missouri while the owner walked me through the technique.  I think she let me sit there for several hours and just play.  It seemed so magical, and I both loved & hated that I never knew exactly how the colors I combined would turn out.

I went old school with green alcohol inks (and a little teal) on a piece of felt tamped onto a piece of glossy cardstock to create my background.  Then I die cut my Christmas Tree from the inked background.

I did some bling-surgery … cutting apart an Eyelet Outlet Swirl Bling to turn it into twinkling Christmas lights on my holiday tree.  I added a circle piece of bling to the top of the tree and the tiny Merry Christmas from Essentials by Ellen Mondo Holly to the bottom of the tag.
