I had a very relaxing evening in my studio watching documentaries of artists Elizabeth Murray and Elizabeth King. I just love watching an artist create and getting a peak inside their head as they talk about their focus and inspiration. Both women broke ground as female artists … and it was great to also see some of the others who followed the trails they blazed.
Tonight my focus and inspiration was the remaining piece of foiled alcohol ink paper on my studio table (the second from the left).
It felt oceanic to me, so I went with another Essentials by Ellen Mermaid card for the August Essentials Challenge to create with Alcohol Inks.
I took my inspiration from the photo collage at the Daring Cardmakers September Elemental Challenge.
I was inspired to frame the oceanic blues in red as well as add some stripes with the washi tape … and of course my metallic accents were gold instead of silver.
I attached my Mermaid Tail and Sea Shells with foam tape for a bit of dimension and finished with some red enamel dots for another pop of the red colors from the inspiration photos.
Glad my final piece of alcohol-inked & foiled paper has found a home.

Beautiful card, I love the foiling on the gorgeous sea coloured inky background. Thank you for joining us this week at Daring Cardmakers.
