The Challenge theme at Memory Box for January is Winter Blues … to create a blue card.
I initially thought I would create a monochromatic blue card using Memory Box Believe Poinsettia Collage, but as I started assembling the design it seemed a bit drab (yes that's how my process works … I pretty much design as I go).
I stamped the poinsettia a second time on red cardstock and detail cut … then I stamped it a third time on a slightly lighter red cardstock to detail cut the middle. As I was doing all of this detail cutting (which I usually find to be a rather meditative process for me), I remembered a conversation I had with a friend when I first started making cards. It started something like "Why would anyone ever spend all that time detail cutting … I'm never doing that." Oh how far I've come.
I finished with some tiny yellow gems for the center of the bloom and a wrap of standard bakers twine … I love how it turned out.
