I finished-up my first fused glass class … and I had so much fun, I signed-up for another 8 weeks.
I was so thrilled with my finale piece … a gorgeous purple & pink Turtle Tray (they call it a turtle tray because if you look close, you can see that when the clear glass layer inside the pink layer fuses, it looks 3-D like a turtle shell).
Here's what it looked like after I assembled it (I fixed the few clear pieces that tried to slide around).
And here's the finished piece after two firings (one to fuse the glass … the second to shape it into the tray).
I also attempted to make a Branch Bowl.
But it turned out to be more of a Blob Bowl.
Here are a group of experimental pieces … I turned most of them into sets of magnets.
And since I was having so much fun, I took an extra Jewelry Class on a Friday night.
Here are my glass pendants before firing.
And here's what they look like after a tack-fire.
We also got to make five clay pendants … seriously, it was like a flashback to Play-doh days. We got to use all of these fun tools.
Here are my five before firing.
and after they were done (I was sad that the orange glaze disappeared into the darker clay)..
Hope you've enjoyed my little foray into fused glass … I can't wait to make some more pieces.
