Dad Comes to Visit 2016

As many of you may know from past blog posts, when Dad comes to visit we fix things … and hang things … and make things.

When we were young, my Dad covered an entire wall of my brother's bedroom with pegboard.  I loved playing with the different hooks and all of the versatility that pegboard offers and have always wished for a pegboard wall of my own.  I was so excited to find the perfect metal pegboard for my studio from Wall Control.

The Paper Towel Holder was the only additional accessory I added (because I am messy).

Dad also helped hang lots of new art including the one of my very own fused glass pieces, which coordinates perfectly with some NYC Graffiti pictures.

He also hung some new stained glass pieces from Peace of Glass in our wall of windows together with a flock of metal geese on the far wall that look like they're headed-up to the loft.

We also enjoyed an awesome visit to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa.  I highly recommend this stop if you like motorcycles … so much to see.  Dad & I posed on the concrete motorcycle in the lobby (he's the only person I've ever trusted enough to ride with).

We also enjoyed the final home game for our arena soccer team the Cedar Rapids Rampage (pardon my goofball husband).

Our favorite time was the half-time show where lots of different mascots from various local colleges and businesses played soccer.  The poor Culver's ice cream cone could hardly walk … so kicking a ball really wasn't an option … and the bottle of shampoo couldn't even see his own feet to kick the ball.  It was quite entertaining.

  1. So nice to have him come and help you out plus have some fun. I wanted to ask… have you ever visited Vesterheim Norwegian museum in Decorah,Iowa. Their art workshops look wonderful and as a Norwegian-American dream of a visit one day.

  3. So glad to see you had another wonderful time with your Dad! Nice pics. Your fused glass looks great with the NY sub art. I haven’t seen a peg board like that. It’s nice that you can attach various pcs (i.e. shelves/bins) to accommodate some of your supplies. 🙂
