Washington DC Jaunt

I've been in Washington DC the last few days for a work conference.  I always appreciate getting to travel … but always wish I had more time to see something other than the inside of the hotel's conference center.

On the cab ride from the airport to the hotel, we drove past the Washington Monument (I just held my phone out the window of the moving cab and snapped a photo hoping for the best).

We arrived in time to grab supper, so with recommendations from Tripadvisor for restaurants within nearby walking distance, we chose The Pig, and we were not disappointed.  We shared a variety of small place (you must try the Face Bacon … although not lovely to photograph, it was the most delicious piece of pork I've ever put into my mouth).  The Szechuan Pork was also amazing.

Sunday morning, I had time to grab breakfast before the conference began, so I took a mile walk to Busboys and Poets and enjoyed a delicious Breakfast Burrito, as well as wandering through their bookstore.

One of our conference events was a Dinner Cruise on the Potomac.  I thought we would be able to see more of the City from the River (really only the airport and distant views of the Capital & Washington Monument) … but we did get a nice view of the Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium as we were docking.

I did have one last hour to venture out before we left the city, so I walked over to get a peek at the White House.
