Duck, Duck … Peacock

My card for this week's SplitCoast Stampers Inspiration Challenge was inspired by this Balbina Peacock Prom Dress from Windsor.

My original plan was to use this Peacock image from Hero Arts … until I realized I must have given it away in one of my recent stamp purges … so I started thinking about what other bird might look good in these fabulous colors … and that's how I ended-up with a Duck … more specifically Sheena's Oh Duck from Crafter's Companion.

IC384wmThe image was stamped in India Ink on white cardstock & clear embossed.  Next I started sponging on Distress Inks moving from the bottom to the top … Shabby Shutters, Tumbled Glass, Evergreen Bough and Broken China … with Wild Honey and Vintage Photo for the Duck.  After I trimmed the image, I added a little Aquamarine Chalk ink to get a little greener tone to the entire image.

Next, I heated up my Iron (I have one from a yard sale that I use only for crafting purposes) and put a piece of typing paper over the image and ironed off the embossing powder for a more matte look to this earthy design.  I finished with a few scraps of cardstock & a kraft card base.  Here's a close-up so you can see the fun texty phrases on the background.
