Sheena Florals Sneak Peek

Tomorrow, Crafter's Companion will be releasing six new Floral Sets by Sheena.  I love looking at flowers … especially when the ground is snow covered.  I remember sitting with my Grandma during the winter months and looking at the flower catalogs … dreaming of the blooms we'd plant in our gardens in the Spring.

My Grandma had a garden filled with rows and rows of Iris and Gladiolas in every imaginable color.  I remember people stopping at her house to marvel at the rainbow of color, and she would always dig them up the roots and bulbs, so they could take their favorite color home to plant for themselves.  I was thinking about all of our garden time together when I made this card with the new Iris Set.

I paper pieced my iris using two colors of solid designer papers from Authentique's new Winter Bundle (for the flower) and Curiousity (for the leaves)… I love how the size is perfect for a standard card.  After I detail cut the image, I added ink and colored pencil for more dimension.  The sentiment is from one of the other new floral sets.

I'm joining the Sympathy Card Challenge at the Paper Players.

  1. I like the iris and you did a good job in coloring and shading. I did an iris only one time, and they are a challenge. You would like working with acrylic paints. My favorites.

  3. This iris is so beautiful. I like the background paper you chose, and the row of pearls is the perfect embelishment. Thanks for sharing with The Paper Players this week!
