Pretty in Pink

We're seeing pink at Jingle Belles to raise funds for Breast Cancer research … and because every holiday needs a little pink.

I die-cut my holiday tree from grungeboard and dyed it using chalk inks, Distress Stain and Glimmer mist for an all-over sparkle … perfect for the Chipboard Challenge at the Christmas Card Challenge.

Next, I decorated my tree using a technique I call a "Flourish Surgical Technique".  I start with a rhinestone flourish that I position over the tree so as much of the tree is covered as possible in gems.   I then use details scissors to trim off each piece of the flourish that extends beyond the edge of the tree … positioning the extra swirls to cover any unadorned parts of the tree … sort of like creating my own bingy mosaic … and perfect for the Glimmer & Sparkle Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

I dyed a doily by pouncing on Spun Sugar Distress stain (I tried rubbing on the stain at first, but the doily was too delicate and it kept tearing) … and the pouncing gave a very cool shaded effect.

I finished with a sentiment from Hero Arts Merry … Hero Arts Contest includes holiday cards & die cuts in October.

And … to raise some money for a cure that is near & dear to both Lauren and to me, we will be donating $2 each for every pink holiday card linked-up at Jingle Belles for this prompt  (that's $4 per card)… so go create.

  1. Beautiful holiday card, Stef! Nice work covering the tree in bling; it looks so pretty. I have never participated in the JB challenge but I hope to make this challenge my first. How generous and charitable of you and Lauren to support Breast Cancer Awareness by donating for every pink holiday card created. 🙂
