I was so excited to start the Stretch Your Stamps Class today … even though I had to wait until I got home from the office to play. I decided to give the Pieced Background technique a try.

I stamped the Hero Arts Magical background on three different pieces of Studio Calico designer paper in three new colors of Memento Ink (Gray Flannel, Moracco & Nautical Blue). I trimmed two of the pieces down to the rectangle and lined them up.
I placed a circle placeholder with removable adhesive, and then cut my rays (cutting through both pages at the same time), stopping just inside the circle (this made precision a little less critical). Next, I started placing alternating pieces on the third piece of the stamped image.

I used this week's Studio Calico Sunday Sketch with a variety of Studio Calico papers and Studio Calico / Hero Arts Airmail Stamps.
And for the Summer Challenge at the Hero Arts blog, nothing says summer more to me than a road trip exploring new places with my sweetie by my side.
It's a fun technique I'd like to try again with different combinations of shapes and colors.

Wowsers this is fab! Thanks for sharing…
Fabulous! Great use of the sketch and the background stamp.
Love the look of this, you did a great job!
This looks really nice
Well done. Amazing precision but love the colors and the combination of elements.
Beautiful card. Love the color you have used and great take on the sketch.
fabulous card, lining up the stamp images had to be tough, but you did perfect. I am thinking may be easier if I try piecing together first than stamping. Love the effect you got with your card so much.
WOW!! Really unique technique!!!
totally awesome! this is my favorite of all the pieced background cards, i think, and makes me want to try piecing some rays…
This looks great! I also considered piecing together first, then stamping. I’m so lazy …
