While I can't imagine ever living in a small town again, I do enjoy visiting them … especially when they have downtown charm. Today I hopped in my car, turned-up the Christmas tunes, and headed to Mt. Vernon, Iowa for a little last minute holiday cheer … it's hard to believe there's no snow on the ground and the sun was shining in December.
My first stop was Right Frame of Mind where they had this lovely holiday tree decorated in neutrals and rich copper tones. I also found several fun stocking stuffer gifts and some very affordable funky jewelry by Anju … loved the necklace & earring sets.
Next I hit my favorite store, Silver Spider. I love how they utilize every single inch of their small space … but on a busy day like today I was wishing I had a bit more room to look around without getting in the way of other shoppers. I found lots of funny little gifts and a few books too.
Next stop was Big Creek Market, home of fabulous food goodies. I got some cheese curds, Indian spice packets, and some candy goodies.
I love little quirky signs on buildings or sidewalks … always good to know the earth is spinning at 500 mph.
Last stop in Mt. Vernon before heading home was Fuel Nest. Loved this apron display.
Also loved the light hitting the colored glass in the window.
And how can you not love an electric bucking horse.
I settled on a Mango Italian Creme Soda (okay … was a little short on proportion of mango flavor to soda).
On the drive home, I also stopped at Green Endeavors … where I saw this vibrant beauty.
Hope you enjoyed your day.

Looks like you had a ton of fun…great pics!
So glad you had a fun day of shopping! All of the shops looks interesting and festive. Glad you found some fun gifts, too. 🙂
