New York City ~ Day 1

Lauren and I had so much fun when we did New York City in 2010, we decided to try a second round of NYC Adventures… and it was just as much fun this time.  Here's a re-cap of day one of our trip.

I flew in Saturday afternoon where we met-up at the Affinia Shelbourne Hotel.  The hotel has a very hip artsy theme running throughout that we loved.  It was also a great location … with great service … wonderful pillows … and quiet rooms.

The theme continued in the room decor.

We decided to go for an early supper at Sarge's Deli.  We shared whitefish on a toasted bagel and a corned beef & pastrami sandwich.

The Deli was hopping with all sorts of deliveries piled on the tables around us … but we did manage to get the first of many "self-portraits in mirrors" of the trip.

NYC-Day1-2

We took a little walk around the City and snapped lots of photos including this one of the Empire State Building at dusk.

And it's always fun to travel with someone who doesn't look at you funny when you snap photos of things that might inspire future cards …

or who will have a discussion with you about how much the scoring and dimension on these fabulous paper leaves really bring them to life.

What a great way to spend a day.

  2. Wow, what decor! Love all those dolls on the wall … I’m presuming they were cloth?!? Interesting that they carried them over to the rooms. Glad you had a great trip. 🙂

  3. Two things struck me on this post… the size of the corned beef & pastrami sandwich (How did you eat that thing? Looks so yummy!) and those fabulous leaves in the window. I’m really into making leaves right now (wonder why?)!!!!
