DECK the Halls … with Candy Land

This week at Jingle Belles we have Sue Culotti as our Lovely Guest Star … her prompt idea DECK the Halls, as in DECK of cards … so the prompt is  to make a (freestanding) xmas-themed ATC OR add an ATC-sized element to your holiday card OR incorporate a playing card OR use a recycled xmas card (or an element from one!) on your (newly made) holiday card! (lots of options this week … so no excuses).

When I go to yard sales or flea markets, I always look for board games … not for the games as much as the cards & playing pieces that come with the games.  I have an odd-ball collection of all sorts of fun things in my papercrafting stash.  I went through my big ziplock bag and decided on this card from the Candy Land Game (which I believe may have been in a collection from Lauren) … he just looked so festive, he had to go on a holiday card.

First, I die cut the card and added a standard card-shaped backing.  I combined him with Echo Park's Everybody Loves Christmas Papers and this week's Cardabilities Sketch.  I punched the Peppermint Candy embellishments from the paper and added some bling & pearls.  I finished with a perfect EAD rub-on sentiment.

I'm also entering this card in this new Moxie Fab World Card Play Challenge, since they are celebrating this fabulous trend in designing as well.

  1. Ooh, Steph! Can you add me to your Christmas card list, please? I totally ADORE this card! What a fun idea to collect game pieces (thanks for giving me one more reason to hoard…) – I’ll have to keep an eye out! The idea to die-cut the Candy Land card was BRILLIANT!
