Faux Tooled Leather Boot

We're playing Cowboys & Cowgirls at the Gingersnap Challenge Blog in May.

Technique Junkies Newsletter is sponsoring at Gingersnap this month, so they sent me a few of their newsletters filled with lots of awesome techniques to try.  When I saw this Faux Tooled Leather technique, it just screamed Cowboy Boots to me.

I found a picture of a side view of a roper boot on the internet.  I sized the picture to card size, printed it out on white cardstock, and cut it apart to then use as a template.

I tooled my faux leather using two different embossing folders and then pieced my boot back together again on a cardbase.  I then cut the cardbase around the boot leaving it attached for opening at the top.  I added a bit of faux stitching along where the pieces of "leather" connected using my piercing tool.

  1. I own not one but TWO pairs of Roper boots [one pair is bright red–ha!], and I can tell you that your boot looks just like them. Great job!
