Winter White Wedding Cake

This week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger is this amazing Embroidered Lace and Appliquéd Wedding Cake.  The description says that the cake designer wanted to evoke a hip 60's dress crafted of embroidered lace and blanketed in floral cotton appliqués.  He made 25 different molds that were then filled with sugar paste and applied to the fondant covered cake.

Mwd105426_spr10_appli4a_xlI needed a wedding card, so I decided to see if I could replicate the feel of the cake using paper.

I started with an ivory shimmer paper embossed with flowers that I cut into my cake layers, rounding the corners at the top.  Next I attached ivory trim between the layers and a different ribbon trim to ground the cake.

Next I punched three different flowers from a textured ivory shimmer paper to decorate my cake.  I finished with a clean & simple sentiment from SRM Stickers.  This card is also for the City Crafter Winter White Challenge & the Drunken Stampers White Out Challenge.

It almost looks good enough to eat (then again for me, cake is "the other white meat" … and wedding cake is in a class by itself).

  1. Like wowza! What a gorgeous card! I so agree with you on cake being the “other white meat”! I personally feel that it needs it’s own food group!
Thanks so much for playing with us Drunken Stampers and rockin’ out the challenge!
