This month's Goth-themed Random Redhead Challenge (GC75) at the Gingersnap Creations Blog is Gothic Arches. While I have admired this art form for quite some time, this is the first time I have attempted to make one on my own … and I loved the process.
I cut my arch from Memory Box Blackbird Paper using this Arch Template. I then attached the Arch to orange cardstock and cut out around it creating a contrasting border.
Next I started adding all sorts of Creative Imaginations rub-on spider webs and spiders to cover the pretty birds. I finished with an Inchie from Art Chix Studio that says "So Far Away".
I decided the theme of my Gothic Arch was a bad dream … where things seem very disconnected with beautiful birds co-existing with huge spiders crawling all over everything … and when you wake up, it all seems so far away.
When the challenge closes on November 14, 2010, we will pick 7 Ginger Gems – fabulous creations that we feel really exemplify that challenge's objective. The Ginger Gems will appear in our wrap-up post and in a slide show in the blog bar for an entire week and their creators will have the honor of displaying our Ginger Gems blog badge.
I hope you'll join the Gothic Arch fun with us as we continue to celebrate Goth-tober at Gingersnap Creations.
Whoa! This is amazing! I totally get the collision of beauty and spooky in dreams represented with this!!
Another beautiful art piece from you Steph.
I love and hate it at the same time… I love the page with its beautiful arch, colors, but I HATE spiders so I have trouble looking at it..
Great arch and I love the title you chose!!
Wonderful arch Steph! Those spiders sure do add to the creepiness – I like how you first see the brighter birds and then the spiders jump out at you – it would be a very bad dream indeed!
