This weeks SCS Inspiration Challenge comes from the wonderful vintage store Blue Carrot Shop.
Alexandra describes herself as a Graphic Designer by trade and a treasure hunter by preference. She says she is very good at finding things … neat things, old things, used things, unique things, well-loved things … and has created a temporary gathering place for these wayward items at the Blue Carrot Shop … until they find their way to a permanent home.
I bought some fabulous Hearts Game Cards from her a while ago to add to my own ephemera collection, and I thought all of the items in her shop provided wonderful inspiration.
I chose this blackberries label to inspire my fruity, vintage design.
I combined paper from Webster's Pages Sweet as Cherry Pie Collection with a vintage label from Crafty Secrets Garden Creative Scraps. I wanted to feature both corner designs of the 6" paper, so I cut it in the middle and pieced it back together, covering the seam with some vintage lace.
I thought this sentiment from Hero Arts Essential Messages worked well with the cherries, which also fits the July Fruit-Themed Challenge. I inked up the edges & added some Zva Creative Flourishes using one of my favorite techniques, which is to cut a single flourish into four parts to work with my layout.
I hope you find inspiration.
