Butterfly Love

PDCC36For me, this week's Play Data Cafe color combination (pink, red & white) was certainly a challenge.  Somewhere in the back of my mind was some "rule" from childhood that red & pink don't go together.  However, when I saw that 91 other creative souls had taken the color challenge plunge, I decided to dive in too using this week's 2 Sketches 4 You Sketch.

I worked with several shades of pink and red before I found ones that worked for me.  I have always wanted to add some Stampington & Company images to my collection, and I finally found some at the Cottage Stamper on my last Chicago Stamp Store road trip.

I inked this Elegant Butterfly with Rouge Chalk ink, stamped it off once (the first stamp of the pink was too dark to get the contrast I wanted), and then inked the edges of the image with Warm Red.

I stamped the Hero Arts Dandelion Frame in Snow White ink on the red base panel.  While most of the image is covered with the center panel, I thought what did show had the same feel as my main image.

I finished with an SRM Sticker sentiment, two pierced rows, and A Muse adhesive gems on the butterfly body.  Even though I wasn't quite sure about the color combination when I started, I love the end result.
