Bluebird of Happiness

230596807 I finally had the chance to do Lucy's color challenge.  She has such a talent with pastel colors, and I tend to gravitate toward more bold shades, so I wanted to see if I could make these softer shades work.

Her challenge (light blue, white & light kraft) was inspired by this wonderful John Lewis Cushion with a bonus for incorporating birds into your design.

I used this week's Card Patterns Sketch for my design.

The Hero Arts Bird in Circle was stamped in Creamy Brown Chalk ink on a scrap of K& Company Actopus to Zelephant Cloud paper.  The Hero Arts Branch Background was stamped in Versamark Champagne Dazzle ink on the light kraft squares.

I finished the design by coloring the circle, birds and flowers with Pebbles Shimmer Chalk to give them a bit more definition against the cloud background & by adding a few tiny pearls to the flower centers.

  1. wow!!! ♥WOW!!!!!!♥ ok, not only is this an amazing card on its own AND a brilliant take on lucy’s challenge… (both for colors and avian fabulosity!) …it’s making me say, “HEY–WOW! stamping RIGHT ON a patterned paper b/g is AWESOME!!!” ♥
(’cause i paper piece…OR… i stamp on solids and maybe add a bit of collage or b/g stamping…but i don’t think i’ve ever done THAT…which now seems like a HUGE OVERSIGHT on my part!!!!!) 🙂 🙂 🙂
