I am having a blast as one of the Visiting Designers at the Gingersnap Creations Blog this month. Today is a Spicy Supply Challenge to use Transparencies in your design. The theme of the month is Flight. I also took the inspiration for my card from this week's Etsy Inspired Challenge … these fabulous Summer Wings Fabric Covered Buttons from howbeadyful's Etsy Store.
I took a dive into the digital world and printed the Hero Arts Digital Flutterbies onto an inkjet transparency. Next, I cut out the image and sprayed the inked/rough side with Sunflower Glimmer mist. You can see a couple of small spots where I got impatient and tried to dab a few spots dry, and it lifted the inkjet ink a bit, however with this antique-looking image, I actually liked the effect. I backed the butterfly with ivory cardstock to bring out the golden shimmer & attached it with glue dots along the body to add some dimension to the wings.
My card is a circle cut from Basic Grey June Bug DP. The sentiment is a combination of several rub-ons. I cut each word apart and applied it one word at a time to shape it around the edge of the circle. Here's a close-up view that shows the butterflies shimmer a bit better.
So go look through your stash and break out those transparent embellishments & overlays … or work with some transparencies from the office supply store. I can't wait to see what you create.
And, I was so excited to see my Color Layering Card get a shout-out on the Moxie Fab World Blog … woot woot.
Beautiful butterfly-love the shimmer. tfs
ok, i ♥LOVE♥ this thing…you KNOW that…but the more i look at it, the MOOOOOORE i love it!!! (ps: the way you cut and rounded RUB-ONS round the circle??!?! i had assumed the words were also added in printshop on the transparency!!! TOO COOL i have to try that!)
Wow, this is gorgeous!
