Glimmering Muslin Flower

This month's Moxie Fab World Fun with Fabric Challenge is to create a project that incorporates fabric in an innovative way.  I don't have much fabric in my stash, but my mother-in-law did share some squares of unbleached muslin with me, so I thought I would give it a try.

I used pinking sheers to cut a strip of muslin "ribbon" and then dyed it with Terra Cotta Glimmer Mist.  I used regular fabric scissors to cut another strip of muslin and then hand-stitched about 1/3" down from the top and gathered the fabric.  I sprayed the gathered fabric with the same Glimmer Mist and let it dry.  Then I cut the thread, unfurled the fabric, and gathered it again exposing the portions of the fabric that had not been saturated with the Mist creating sort of a tie-die effect.

The cardstock is Cosmo Cricket Fly a Kite and the sentiment is Hero Arts Essential Messages (clear embossing the India Ink helps it stand out against the floral background).
